Living Advent sees in Christmas in Hampstead Norreys once again

On each day in the lead-up to Christmas, a door in the village will open to offer local residents and their family and friends a different festive affair.
The relevant advent number will be displayed in the window or outside the venue and remain up until the end of advent.
The Hampstead Norreys Community Shop, The White Hart Inn and St Mary’s Church are among those taking part, with the agenda boasting a Santa scooter spectacular, The Rockey Norreys Show performance and Christmas songs and carols galore.
The majority of the events, unless stated otherwise, will take place between 6.15pm and 6.30pm each day.
Events that have already taken place include a children’s Christmas play, the switching on of the village’s Christmas lights, a festive quiz and a performance by the Hampstead Norreys Handbell Ringers.
Hampstead Norreys is the only West Berkshire village to host a Living Advent Calendar, having held its first one last year, and all funds raised go towards the Hampstead Norreys Youth and Chuckles Baby and Toddler groups.
Event organiser, Janet Carruzzo, said: “The atmosphere is very festive and very special.
“The people in our village enjoy putting on these events as well as coming along to watch or take part in some of them.
“At the poetry reading event at The Cuttings last week it was a lovely dry, cold crisp winter evening. We all stood around listening drinking mulled wine and eating mince pies - it was magical.
“This is an event which brings people together of all ages which is wonderful to see particularly at this special, festive time of year.”
