Llama on the loose
Animal's owner says llama went missing on Friday (January 27) and could be somewhere in the Downlands area
HAVE you seen this llama?
Yasmin the llama got loose as she was being delivered to her new owner, Ann Goldsmith, on Friday (27) afternoon, and is now thought to be somewhere around the Downlands areas.
Ms Goldsmith sought the animal for most of the afternoon on land between Compton, East Ilsley and Blewbury, but the slippery mammal evaded capture.
She said: “We chased her all afternoon but were unsuccessful. She's normally a sweet, calm little girl, but is just in a complete panic and llamas can run as fast as some horses; she's jumping any stock fences.
“Nobody's reported sighting her today, so we have absolutely no idea where she's got to. We've been driving round and giving out flyers.
“And by tomorrow she could have gone even further - we're just hoping the noise of the traffic will scare her away from the A34 or M4, but are concerned that she could easily cause a traffic or other accident.
“Llamas are normally really gentle creatures- they don't bite or kick like horses. But Yasmin is so scared at present that if cornered she might knock someone down to get away.
“Nevertheless, if somebody can drive her into a barn or somewhere she can't escape from, that would be fantastic.”
Anyone who spots Yasmin is advised to ring either the police on 101, or the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
