Newbury teenager's hard work pays off as he makes small screen debut in long running hospital drama

NEWBURY may have a rising star in its midst with local actor Max Green due to make his small screen debut in long-running hospital drama Holby City on Tuesday.

Max has previously appeared as an extra in E4 drama and has also starred in various amateur dramatic productions.

The 18-year-old, who has had no formal training, said that he had a fantastic time shooting the episode and was delighted to land his first TV speaking role on the BBC1 show, now in its 13th year.

He said: “Holby will be my first main part on TV and when I found out I had an audition it was amazing, I knew I had to do my best.

“The cast were all so nice and I got to work with the most amazing people.

“I want to thank them all. They gave me the opportunity to do something I love and I will never forget that.”

Max said that he landed the role through his own determination as he did not have an agent prior to getting the part.

After deciding that he wanted to be an actor Max got involved in amateur dramatics, while working at Sovereign Housing.

He said: “I didn’t have an agent so I was just emailing everyone I could find on the internet.

“When I came home and saw that I'd got an audition for I couldn’t believe it.”

And the young actor, who says he is often told he resembles star Matt Damon, feels that landing the role on will now provide a platform to go on to bigger and better things.

He said: “My time on Holby was brilliant and I will never forget it.

“I know I definitely want to do more acting in the future and am very versatile.

“I’ve now got an agent and if my part in Holby brings more work then that would be great, but as long as I’m acting and doing what I love I’ll be happy.”

Max can be seen in tonight Tuesday, July 28, at 8pm and on his You Tube channel www.youtube.com/user/MaxiJGee
