Local businesses get involved with college prize giving

Exceptional and hardworking students from each course were rewarded with a certificate and a prize donated by a local business, ranging from shopping vouchers, trophies and equipment relevant to their subject area, after being nominated by their tutors.
A presentation was held in front of an audience of family and friends, with each student receiving a certificate from college principal Anne Murdoch and the winners receiving their awards from the relevant businesses.
Among the winners on the evening were Nicola Ball, who was awarded best hairdressing learner at level two, Daniel Radbourne won the Jewsons award for best multi-trades student and Sharon Goddard who was awarded the professional cookery award by Donnington Valley.
Apple Print, Vitacress vegetable wholesalers and E.J. Business Consultants were also among the prize-givers on the evening.
Dr Murdoch said she was “delighted” that numerous local employers continued to sponsor and join the awards programme. She said: “The further education awards evening is a wonderful way for our learners to celebrate their successes with family, friends and their teachers and it is always a great occasion.
“We are particularly grateful to all the employers and local businesses that sponsored the individual awards. Their generosity really helps to make this an occasion for all the prize winners to remember.”
