Tadley churches come together at CTAT annual service and commit to year-long prayer initiative
An organisation that brings together all the churches in the Tadley area held its annual service last month and committed to a new year-long prayer initiative.
St Michael's Catholic Church hosted the Churches Together Around Tadley (CTAT) Christian unity service on the afternoon of Sunday, January 26.
The annual event gathered together the leaders and members of the various communities from Tadley, Silchester and Pamber Heath.
Rev Karen West of Silchester said: “CTAT really is one of the best things about ministering here.
“The local Church of England, Catholic, Methodist, Reformed Church, United Reformed Church and Community Churches, together with the Salvation Army, work so well together to put on a huge number of joint events to witness to the local area.”
Unfortunately the Salvation Army leader Stewart Madden, joint moderator of CTAT, was unwell so was unable to be present.
The themes of hope, peace, love and joy were explored and celebrated at the service. Refreshments and a social get-together in the parish room followed which was enjoyed by all who attended.
The service organisers were very pleased with the good attendance from local church goers, particularly given the awful weather on the day.
CTAT has also committed to be part of a new initiative called ‘Pray Tadley’ throughout 2025.
This was initially an Advent project, but the community decided to continue the project over the coming year.
CTAT launched the initiative after the group of churches were shocked to do discover that 1 in 5 children in their local schools and communities were thought to be experiencing some kind of trauma.
Pray Tadley developed from this discovery, as the churches wished for the people of Tadley and the surrounding villages of Silchester and Pamber Heath know that they are being prayed for.
CTAT distributes printed prayer cards at Sunday services which state that the local church community is praying for local lives to know hope, peace, love and joy, as well as asking for specific prayer requests.
