Local farm gobbles up national award
WALTERS Turkeys is celebrating after receiving a 2014 Great Taste Award.
The Aldworth-based business received the award for its traditional farm-fresh, oven-ready, free-range bronze turkey in the latest round of the national Great Taste Awards.
Edward Walters, of Walters Turkeys, said: “The Walters family and staff are thrilled to receive this prestigious award.
“On our farm in Aldworth, high up on the Berkshire Downs, we pride ourselves on the care and attention given to the welfare of our turkeys.
“They have plenty of space to run about and enjoy the fresh air. We know our turkeys are exceptionally good but to have such great feedback from rigorous testing is fantastic.”
The Great Taste Awards are judged by a panel of food critics, chefs, cooks, members of the Women’s Institute, farmers, food writers and journalists, who blind-taste samples from each round of the competition.
