Local roads affected by flooding/flood alerts on three local rivers
The following local roads in the Newbury area are currently (9.30am Fri Dec 27), affected by flooding
Bury's Bank Road in Thatcham between the Crookham Hill junction and the Virginia Lodge junction.
Sulhamstead Hill in both directions in Sulhamstead between the A4 junction and the Bottom Lane junction.
Padworth Lane in Aldermaston Wharf is closed between the A4 Bath Road junction and the School Road junction, because of flooding.
The Environment Agency has lessened a warning about flooding on the River Kennet from Thatcham to Reading to a flood alert (flooding possible, be prepared), a lower level of alert than the previous flood warning (immediate action required) issued for the river over Christmas.
Flood alerts remain in place for the River Thames from Days Lock to above Pangbourne and from Pangbourne to Purley.
A flood alert also remains in place on the River Pang, from East Ilsley to Pangbourne and Sulham Brook.
Flood alerts are no longer in force this morning (Fri) on the River Kennet from Theale to Reading and Berwick Bassett to Newbury.
