If you are from West Berkshire and ran the London Marathon then please send us your time and a photo

RUNNERS from across West Berkshire have spoken of their supreme efforts in the London marathon during a scorching day in the capital on Sunday.

Mortimer runner Wendy Shaw, aged 33, attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time in a costume (female).

Running on behalf of Guide Dogs for the Blind, super fit Miss Shaw completed the course in four hours, 44 minutes, and pending verification of the paperwork, is confident she has set a new world record.

Yvonne Pape, from Newbury, who was running to raise money for Parkinsons UK finished in four hours and 25 minutes, and said the atmosphere generated by the spectators was great, despite the heat.

For more on this and several other local marathon runners, see Thursday's Newbury Weekly News.
