Thatcham woman completes London Marathon for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading
A Thatcham woman has completed the London Marathon in memory of her late cousin Steve.
This was the first time Kerry Palmer ran a marathon and she said it was better than she could have ever imagined.
Her younger cousin died last year aged 37 after being diagnosed with incurable oesophagus cancer 18 months previously.
She is now raising money for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading who supported Steve for nine weeks.
She said: "I was lucky enough for my first-ever marathon to be the London Marathon, and what an absolutely amazing day, better than I could have ever of imagined, the day from start to finish was just the best ever.
“All my training paid off and the support I received was just unbelievable thank you so much to everyone that supported me and donated.
“The most magical experience which I’ll treasure for ever.”
She said the hospice, in Reading, made life that little bit more bearable at a time that was tough for the family, allowing them to laugh and create memories with Steve in his final weeks.
In her online Just Giving page, she said: “Please help me raise as much as possible for this amazing hospice, so they will be able to carry one giving the best care at the hardest time in people’s lives.”

She has currently reached more than £1,400.
