Longest day marathon for golfer in Newbury raised £1,000

The event, at Newbury Racecourse Golf Club last Monday (June 25), involved four rounds. It is the third year running that Mr Norman has completed the challenge, bringing his total for MacMillan Cancer Support to around £3,000.
He is usually partnered by his friend Chris Moore, but this year Mr Moore was able to lend only moral support for the most part, having injured his shoulder.
Mr Norman, of Ashmore Green, said: “I enjoyed this year’s ‘longest day’ golf challenge and completed it between 6am and 6.30pm.”
The 71-year-old, who suffered with cancer himself several years ago, said: “I found Macmillan were a great help to me and if ever I can think of ways to help them I will.”
