A34 currently shut by overturned lorry between Chieveley and Chilton

6.15pm – This incident has now been cleared and road has reopened.

5.45pm – The A34 remains closed this evening. National Highways latest estimate is that the road will not be reopened until around 10.30pm.

2.45pm – National Highways has said it now doesn't expect the road to be cleared until at least 6.45pm.

A complex recovery operation is yet to take place.
1pm – The A34 remains shut this afternoon after an earlier accident involving an HGV.
The road is now not expected to reopen until after 4pm, according to National Highways.
Traffic is queuing for up to 30 minutes and is backed up to the junction with the A4 at Speen.
The A34 is currently shut through part of West Berkshire due to an overturned lorry.
The road is closed, northbound, between the M4 junction at Chieveley and the A4185 at Chilton.
Emergency services, including Thames Valley Police, are currently at the scene, along with National Highways traffic officers.
It will take some time to recover the vehicle and the road is not expected to reopen until at least 3.15pm.
Traffic is already queuing back as far as the Speen junction.

A diversion is currently in place with motorists advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol and allow plenty of extra time for their journey.
Traffic is being diverted westbound on the M4 to junction 14 and then use the roundabout to exit and join the A338 Ermin Street northbound.
Continue for 10 miles until Wantage and at the T-junction with the A338 (Newbury Street/Ormond Road), turn right to join Ormond Road.
Follow to a further T-junction with the A417 (Charlton Road) and turn right to join the A417.
Continue for 5 miles to a roundabout at Rowstock and use the first exit to join the A4130 Abingdon Road.
Follow for 2 miles to then re-join the A34 northbound at the Milton Interchange.
An overturned lorry also shut the A34 at Speen yesterday.
