Lorry fire causing delays on A34





A one lane closure is also expected to be in place until midnight.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the lorry caught fire approximately two miles outside Whitchurch and that journeys between the exits to Burghclere and Whitchurch were being affected.
A Highways Agency spokeswoman, Angela Harris, confirmed that one lane is currently open to allow traffic to pass, while the other lane remains closed for the ongoing clean up and recovery.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances, including a water carrier and a Land Rover.
As shown in this photograph sent in to NewburyToday by motorist Lloyd Anstice, the large goods vehicle received 100 per cent fire damage and the fire also affected nearby crops.
