A34 shut between the A339 at Newbury and the M4 at junction 13 for Chieveley after earlier lorry fire




UPDATE 10.30am: One lane of the northbound carriageway has now reopened but traffic remains heavy across the area.

The southbound stretch of the A34, through the M4 junction 13 at Chieveley is still closed while resurfacing of the carriageway is carried out.

Specialist removal of the lorry is also required after last night’s fire under the M4.

The A34 is currently closed after a lorry fire overnight.

The road is shut in both directions at the junction with the M4 for Chieveley.

The road is shut from the M4 to the A339 and traffic is already building up on all approaches.

National Highways said it expects the road to be reopened by 9.15am.

The fire - which was first reported just after 3am - closed both the A34 and the M4 above it throughout the night.

The M4 has now reopened.
