Lorry sheds load closing A34 southbound




Update: This has now cleared.

A lorry on the A34 shed its load, closing off a stretch of the southbound dual carriageway.

The closure, between the junctions with the A343 near Burghclere and the A303, was reported by National Highways at around 3.44pm today (Monday).

Traffic was stopped and the road later closed with diversion route in operation.

The event is expected to clear between 7pm and 7.15pm this evening.

Thames Valley Police is at the scene and managing traffic, which is being turned and released via the rear of the queue.

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 7.45pm and 8pm tonight (Monday).

National Highways said: "We can confirm traffic caught up within the closure continues to be turned and released via the rear of the queue by Thames Valley Police for #A34 southbound incident.

"If you're near the front, it will take time.

"Thanks for your patience."

There are currently delays of 40 minutes against expected traffic.
