The day was filled with learning and laughter with a joint Key Stage 2 assembly and poetry workshops.

Also in attendance was the books illustrator Mini Grey who said she was impressed by the enthusiasm and creativity of the children.

She said: “What an absolute pleasure it was to visit Francis Baily School – and draw along to the hilarious words of AF Harrold.

“It was a brilliant opportunity to show words and pictures in action together.

“And I was so impressed by the enthusiasm and creativity of the children, the supportive staff, and Francis Baily’s inspirational librarian and library.”

Mr Harrold echoed his colleague and friend’s comments.

He said: “I’ve been to Francis Baily in the past and have always found the staff and pupils there wonderfully sparky and fun to be with.

“And to visit this time in the company of my friend, the bottomlessly creative Mini Grey, was a joy.

“Led by their fine library and librarian, Francis Baily brims with creativity and the willingness to be silly with words, which is big part of what poetry is about and is for.”
