M4 closed westbound after serious accident
National Highways has issued an alert that the M4 westbound between Hungerford and Swindon is closed due to a serious accident investigation.
"The M4 in Wiltshire is currently closed westbound between J14 Hungerford/Wantage and J15 Swindon/Marlborough due to a serious collision.
"Wiltshire Police currently lead the response to a serious collision which took place at approximately 11pm Sunday evening. National Highways have resources in attendance assisting with traffic management. The carriageway remains closed for collision investigations and is expected to remain closed throughout the morning
"If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
Road users are advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol on local road signs.
Leave the M4 at J14, at the roundabout take the first exit and join the A338.
At the A4 mini roundabout turn right on the A4 towards Hungerford, avoiding Hungerford town centre. After a short distance to the next roundabout take the second exit on to Charnham Park.
Turn right on to the B4192 and follow for approximately 13 miles through Aldbourne to the A419 roundabout.
Take the first exit and join the A419, continue to rejoin the M4 at J15.
