M4 eastbound between Newbury and Hungerford re-opens following accident
According to Mark Brownsmith, the watch manager of Green Watch at Whitley Wood Fire Station in Reading, one pump was called at 12.30pm from Whitley Wood, a second from Tilehurst, and a third from Hungerford, following the accident, between junctions 13 and 14, involving a green hatchback car, driven by a man, with a woman passenger.
Firefighters administered oxygen and first aid to the woman at the scene, before paramedics arrived.
The woman was then removed from the vehicle on a spinal board and wearing a neck brace, before being taken to hospital.
The eastbound carriageway of the M4 was re-opened at around 1.20pm and firefighters left the scene at 1.45pm
