M4 eastbound closed after collision between Hungerford and Newbury

Update: One lane is now open on M4 eastbound between J14 (Hungerford) and J13 (Newbury)

Two lanes remain closed following a serious collision. Delays of just under 45 minutes eastbound, 6 miles of congestion on the approach.

Westbound, all lanes are open, delays of 10 minutes.

A section of the M4 motorway eastbound is currently closed between Junction 14 (Hungerford/Newtown) and Junction 13 (Newbury) following a serious collision involving a lorry and a car.

Emergency services and National Highways traffic officers are at the scene responding to the incident.

Lane 3 (of 3) is also closed on the westbound carriageway. 45 min delays above normal journey time eastbound and 30 mins westbound.

Diversion Details

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol:

Leave M4 at J14

Follow the A338 to the A4 roundabout

Turn left at the roundabout and follow the A4 to the A34 interchange

At the A34 roundabout use the 2nd exit and follow the A34 to the M4 J13 interchange

Turn right at the roundabout and rejoin the M4 eastbound
