M4 reopened after car fire




One lane was closed after the fire eastbound between junctions 14 (Hungerford) and 13 (Chieveley)

THE M4 is now fully reopened after a car fire meant that one lane had to be closed this afternoon (Fri).

A fire crew from Hungerford and one from Wiltshire were called to the scene eastbound between junctions 14 (Hungerford) and 13 (Chieveley) just before 2pm to find the Ford Galaxy on fire.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman, Nicole Targett, said that the vehicle was “well alight” and described it as a serious blaze.

Fire crews left the scene at just before 3pm and the carriageway was fully reopened by 3.10pm.
