HGVs incident closes M4 westbound in Wiltshire

Update 1.15pm: This is now clear.

The M4 is closed westbound between J15 for Marlborough and J16 for Swindon West due to a collision involving two lorries.

The incident occurred at around 3am, with one lorry striking the central reserve, resulting in significant barrier damage and debris.

Both eastbound and westbound carriageways were initially closed.

Westbound remains closed for police investigations and repairs, and is expected to be closed for most of the morning. The eastbound carriageway has reopened.

Emergency services, including Wiltshire Police and Ambulance services have attended.

Traffic is diverted to follow the hollow triangle symbol, from J16, via local roads to J15.

These local roads include the A3102 via Mannington, the B4006 and the B4289 and A4259.

Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.
