Macdonald Hotels and Resorts to manage Donnington Grove Hotel

The group took over the running of the 18th century, 32-bedroom hotel last week, however the owners, Sandtrend Ltd retain ownership and management of the whole estate and management of the pro shop, golf and estate pursuits.
Former general manager, Christopher Strong, who still runs the golf course on behalf of Sandtrend, said: “This is very exciting for the hotel. We believe the standards will be raised and the catering improved.”
The decision was taken, Mr Strong said, because of the challenging conditions faced by small independent hotels: “The owners thought it sensible to marry up with a larger group.”
Managing director of Macdonald Hotels, Chris Gillett, said: “This agreement will further strengthen our portfolio along the M4 corridor and appeal to our discerning business, leisure and conference guests who seek the reassurance and quality of product and service offered by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.”
