Major Newbury traffic route closes

Through traffic will no longer be able to use Park Way bridge from today (Monday)

A MAJOR Newbury town centre traffic route is to close to through traffic today (Monday).

Park Way bridge, which is currently used by southbound traffic, will close to through traffic in both directions to enable Parkway's contractors Costain to carry out road improvement works ahead of Parkway's scheduled opening in October, including lowering the carriageway to the entrance of the new car park and creating new bus and taxi ranks.

Meanwhile, West Berkshire Council has said the town centre paving works, which started on Monday, February 7, should be completed by Monday - ten days before the town centre pedestrian zone timings are set to change from 6pm to 5pm.
