Male incontinence bins installed around Thatcham
Male incontinence bins have been installed at various locations around Thatcham.
Thatcham Town Council has been recognised as ‘Bog Standard’ following the installation of male incontinence bins in the public toilets at Thatcham Broadway, Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Burdwood Community Hall, and the Town Council offices.
One in eight men will get diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
More than 52,000 men already receive this life-changing diagnosis every year in UK.
And nearly 60 per cent of them will experience urinary incontinence following treatment.
For many men, the shame, anxiety or embarrassment often associated with urinary incontinence, plus the lack of disposal facilities in public spaces, can discourage them from leaving their homes.
But The Bog Standard Charter, developed by phs Group in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, aims to ensure men have access to appropriate disposal facilities for incontinence products.
It is hoped the addition of these bins to Thatcham’s washroom facilities will enable men to dispose of their waste discreetly and with dignity.
