Kit Malthouse and Alok Sharma both in Prime Minister Liz Truss's new cabinet
MPs Kit Malthouse and Alok Sharma have both been named in Prime Minister Liz Truss’s new cabinet.
North West Hampshire MP Mr Malthouse has been appointed education secretary and will be succeeding James Cleverly, who has just been named the new foreign secretary.
Reading West MP Mr Sharma will remain as Cop26 president, a role he has fulfilled since January last year.
In his previous roles, Mr Malthouse has served as a Minster of State for Family Support, a Minister of State for Housing and Planning, a Minister of State for Policing, and a Minister of State for Justice.
Mr Malthouse has been the MP for North West Hampshire since 2015, when he won the seat with a majority of 23,943.
Mr Sharma has been the Reading West MP since 2010, and was the international development secretary and business secretary before becoming Cop26 president.
