Mortimer Common man Freddie Bowers abused police
A man has been convicted of abusing police officers.
Freddie Bowers appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 23.
The 20-year-old, of Windmill Corner, Mortimer Common, initially denied using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause PC Rowland Harrison and PC Carla Castell harassment, alarm or distress in Reading on June 1 last year.
But he subsequently changed his mind and admitted committing the offence.
The court adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
Bowers was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
It was not Bowers’ first clash with police.
Last July he admitted failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis when suspected of drink-driving.
At the police station, the court heard, Bowers became threatening and told officers: “F*** your mother.”
Adonis Daniel, defending, told magistrates his client was upset because he had been “dragged from the car” by police and that he had plead guilty “through gritted teeth”.
On that occasion Bowers was fined £120 with £85 costs and banned from driving for 12 months.
