Newbury man Karl Scott accused of raping woman

A man has appeared in court charged with rape.

Karl Scott was charged with the offence at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 28.

The 29-year-old, of Saffron Close, Newbury, is charged with raping a woman aged 16 years or over in Newbury between specific dates in 2020.

Mr Scott, who was legally represented by Robert Slinn, was told the charge was one that could only be heard at a crown court.

Magistrates adjourned the case and sent the case to be dealt with by a judge and, in the case of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Mr Scott was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
