Thatcham man Richard Ashcroft admits assault




A man has been ordered to compensate his assault victim.

Richard Ashcroft appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 4.

The 55-year-old, of The Wheatsheaf pub in Chapel Street, Thatcham, admitted assaulting Nahid Muhammed Islam by beating him in the Reading postal area on April 29.

Ashcroft, who was legally represented by Adonis Daniel, was made subject to an 18-month conditional discharge.

No order was made for costs but district judge Samuel Goozee ordered him to pay Mr Islam £50 compensation in lieu of an otherwise statutory victim services surcharge.
