Reading Magistrates' Court: Thatcham man admits child abuse

A MAN has been sent to the crown court for sentencing after he admitted abusing or neglecting a child.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday, August 4, was Craig Maggs.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Mount Road, Thatcham, pleaded guilty to wilfully assaulting, ill-treating, neglecting, abandoning or exposing the child in a manner likely to cause him unnecessary suffering or injury to health in Reading on a specific date earlier this year.

Magistrates declined further jurisdiction and sent the matter to Reading Crown Court to be dealt with by a judge on a date to be fixed.

Mr Maggs, who was legally represented by Adonis Daniel at the hearing, was meanwhile released on conditional bail.
