Man airlifted to hospital following collision
Andover Road still closed following incident in Newbury this afternoon
A MAN has been airlifted to hospital following a collision in Newbury this afternoon (Wed Nov 23).
Thames Valley police spokesman, Chris Kearney, confirmed police were called at 3.20pm, following a collision on the A343 Andover Road between Bartlemy Road and Tydehams after a 48-year-old man was involved in a collision with a Fiat Punto, before being airlifted to hospital, with serious injuries.
The Andover Road remains closed between the Old Bell pub and Bartholomew Street.

UPDATE 5PM
Thames Valley Police have said the Andover Road is likely to remain closed for some time, while investigations continue at the scene, following the collision.
The man was airlifted in the Thames Valley and Chiltern air ambulance to the John Radcliffe hospital. Oxford, following the collision, according to Ngozi Fakeye a spokeswoman for the ambulance service.
UPDATE THURS NOV 24, 9AM
The Andover Road re-opened at 5.40pm yesterday (Wednesday), according to police.
The man, who was airlifted to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, following the incident, with serious head injuries, remains in a serious condition.
