Man arrested after thefts from vehicles at Beacon Hill near Burghclere




A man has been arrested after a number of vehicles were broken into near Burghclere and Beacon Hill.

Items stolen included number plates, Apple Airpods, handbags and clothes.

Hampshire police said a 47-year-old man from Havant was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of several thefts from motor vehicles between January 26 and February 2.

These included three thefts from motor vehicles at Beacon Hill on Saturday, January 29, and theft from a motor vehicle in Whitchurch between Wednesday, January 26, and Wednesday, February 2.

He has been questioned by officers and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “Information that we receive from the community is vital and informs where we put our resources and take action against any illegal activity.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to make sure you remove valuables from your vehicle and lock it.

“Make sure to physically check that doors and window are locked, especially if you have used the remote to lock the vehicle, then look inside again to make sure you’ve not left anything.
