Man arrested and charged with four offences relating to thefts from cars
A man has been arrested and charged with four offences relating to thefts from cars.
Thatcham officers arrested the man yesterday (Tuesday), who has been remanded in custody to appear in court.
But with reports of thefts from vehicles increasing across the district, what can you do to ensure your property remains safe?
First, trust locks, not luck, police advise.
Most car criminals are opportunists. Lock all doors, close all windows and shut the sunroof every time you leave your car to limit their opportunity to steal your valuables.
And do not display. Remove all valuables from your car when you park. Even an old coat or plastic bag left behind can tempt a thief.
Lastly, be alarmed. Install an alarm, CCTV and a motion sensor light at your property to deter thieves not just from stealing from your vehicle, but also from stealing your vehicle itself.
