Man arrested following fatal collision




A man has been arrested following a fatal collision on the A3051 in Kingsclere.

POLICE have arrested a man following an accident near Kingsclere on Friday morning in which another man died and a woman was left in a critical condition.

The mas was arrested at about 5.30pm Friday evening.

The police were called to the A3051 Winchester Road shortly after 8.22am on Friday after reports of a collision, involving a grey Volkswagen Passat and a silver Peugeot 206.

The driver of the Peugeot 206, a man believed to be in his early 30s and thought to be from Kingsclere, was pronounced dead at the scene. His front seat passenger, a woman, was taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital but was later moved to Southampton General Hospital.

Winchester Road was closed to traffic in both directions between Swan Street and Roman Road in the Cannon Heath area but was reopened by 4.15pm on Friday.

The collision happened close to Parkhouse racehorse stables, owned by the Balding family of Kingsclere.
