Man arrested following Newbury petrol station arson

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent after a fire at a petrol station in Newbury.
At around 3am on January 5, a man unsuccessfully attempted to light some newspapers at the Tesco petrol station in Pinchington Lane.
He then set fire to stock that was on display within the main entrance of the nearby Tesco supermarket, causing significant damage.
The store was closed at the time of the incident with some night staff on duty. No one was injured during the incident.
As reported in the Newbury Weekly News, two pumps from Newbury were called to the store at 3.58am.
The man has been bailed until February 1.
