Man arrested for GBH after town centre incident




Police have arrested a Thatcham man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in Bartholomew Street

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in Newbury town centre on Thursday evening (February 11) which resulted in a man being hospitalised.

A 48-year-old man from Thatcham was treated in Basingstoke hospital for a fracture near his eye and cuts and bruising to his head after an incident which occurred at 6.05pm in Bartholomew Street, near the George and Pelican pub.

A 39-year-old man from Thatcham has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following the incident.

He has been released on police bail until March 13 pending further enquiries.
