Man arrested for Midgham rape released as investigation continues




A MAN who was arrested following the rape of a woman in Midgham has been released with no further action.

The 28-year-old, from Bracknell, was arrested in connection with a rape investigation following an incident in a layby on the A4 opposite the Mercure Hotel on the night of August 16.

The woman had pulled over to investigate a child's car seat left on the side of the road, fearing a child’s safety was at risk.

She was then attacked.

On August 24, Thames Valley Police reported that it had arrested a man in connection with its investigation.

However, following enquiries, the man has been released with no further action and the force says it is continuing with its investigation.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad, said: “We continue to investigate this incident and continue to follow multiple lines of enquiry.

“The victim is being supported by specially trained officers and we are working with her to gather further information to assist us in investigating this concerning incident.

“As a result of this incident we are continuing to carry out reassurance patrols and we would advise any members of the public who have concerns to raise them with one of our officers or call 101.”
