Man arrested in missing girl case




Police arrest man on suspicion of kidnap following the disappearance of Sian O'Callaghan

WILTSHIRE Police has announced that shortly before lunchtime today (Thursday) a man was arrested on suspicion of the kidnap of Sian O'Callaghan and is on route to a police custody centre.

Hundreds of police and members of the public have been continuing with their search of Savernake Forest, five miles west of Hungerford, today after Miss O'Callaghan was reported missing on Saturday morning.

Miss O'Callaghan, of Swindon, Wiltshire, was last seen leaving Suju nightclub in Swindon at 2.52am on Saturday morning.

Her family have been informed of the arrest.

Chief Supt. Steve Hedley told reporters:

"A short time ago a man was arrested on suspicion of the kidnap of Sian O' Callaghan. He was arrested by Wiltshire officers in Swindon. Sian's family have been informed of this development.

"It is a significant stage in this difficult enquiry. Our priority is to find Sian and we are doing all that we can to do so.

"I would like to thank the media and the public for their help.We are doing all that we can to find Sian.

It is a significant development in this investigation."
