Man arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm
The incident relates to the alleged stabbing in Newbury Market Place in the early hours of Saturday
POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in relation to a stabbing incident in Newbury Market Place in the early hours of Saturday.
The 25-year-old arrested has been released on bail to return to Newbury police station on December 1.
Police are reiterating their appeal for witnesses to the incident in Newbury on Saturday in which three men, all from Thatcham, received minor lacerations and puncture wounds following some disorder in the Market Place area at around 2.50am.
The most seriously injured, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and was released the following morning.
Det Con John Yallop, from Newbury CID, who is investigating the incident, said: “Although we have made an arrest we still need to speak to anyone who was in the town centre at the time and witnesses the incident.
“Fortunately, none of the victims were seriously injured in the incident.”
