Reading Magistrates' Court orders Leigh Gearing to pay assault compensation

A MAN has been ordered to pay compensation to a female he assaulted.

Leigh Gearing appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 3.

The 19-year-old, of Roundfield, Upper Bucklebury, admitted assaulting a female, who can not be identified for legal reasons, by beating her in Reading on November 27 last year.

Magistrates made Mr Gearing subject to a 12-month conditional discharge.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs.

Finally, Mr Gearing was ordered to pay his victim £100 in compensation, in lieu of an otherwise statutory victim services surcharge.
