Man banned from Newbury town centre due to antisocial behaviour
A MAN has been banned from central Newbury due to numerous reports of anti-social behaviour.
A criminal behaviour order (CBO) has been granted against Robert Black, 52, of Parsons Close, Newbury.
The order was originally put in place on June 11 this year, banning Mr Black from consuming alcohol in a public place except for licensed premises, or from having possession of an unsealed or open container of alcohol in a public place.
However, due to breaches of the current order and numerous reports of associated antisocial behaviour by Mr Black, Thames Valley Police requested a variation to the order.
The force was granted the variation at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The variation now excludes Mr Black from an area in central Newbury.
The area is bounded by London Road, A339, Bear Lane, Cheap Street, Market Street, Bartholomew Street, West Mills, Bridge Street, Northcroft Lane, Northbrook Street and The Broadway.
The order, which is in place to protect the public from being caused harassment, alarm and distress, runs until June 11, 2022.
