Reading Magistrates' Court: Man banned from Newbury town centre pub for assault

A MAN has been banned from a town centre pub for committing an assault in Newbury.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 16, was Nathan Kirk.

The 42-year-old, of St Mary's Road in Newbury, had denied assaulting Vijdan Wasta by beating him on Sunday, January 17.

However, magistrates did not believe his account of events and convicted Mr Kirk following a trial.

Mr Kirk was made subject to a 12 month community order and ordered to be treated for alcohol dependency.

He was also banned from entering The Old Waggon and Horses pub in Newbury Market Place for the next 12 months.

In addition he was ordered to pay £200 costs.

Finally, Mr Kirk was required to pay £100 compensation to Mr Wasta in lieu of an otherwise statutory victim services surcharge.
