Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury man broke non-molestation order

A MAN has been sentenced for breaching a non-molestation order.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 1, was Brendan Stock.

The 46-year-old, of Trout Walk, Newbury, admitted two charges of breaching a non-molestation order by messaging Joanne Stock on May 26 last year and on Tuesday, May 30.

Magistrates indicated they would have fined Mr Stock £80 but deemed the time he had served in custody, having been detained overnight, would serve as punishment instead.

They said they made this decision because there was no evidence of distress caused to Ms Stock.

No order was made for costs but Mr Stock was ordered to pay a statutory victim services surcharge of £64.

Finally, magistrates made Mr Stock subject to a restraining order forbidding him from attending Ms Stock’s home in Theale or from contacting her either directly or indirectly, unless to arrange child contact via an allocated social worker.
