Reading Magistrates' Court: Newbury man caught with large knife in public




A MAN is awaiting sentence for unlawfully having a large kitchen knife in public.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, February 7, was Stephen Cockram.

The 29-year-old, of Cromwell Road, Newbury, admitted possessing the blade unlawfully in a public place, namely Cromwell Road, on Friday, January 20.

An alternative charge of possessing an offensive weapon on the same occasion was withdrawn.

Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared on an 'all options' basis, including custody.

Mr Cockram was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
