West Berkshire man charged in connection with armed robbery




AN Aldermaston man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Betfred branch in Reading.

Kerron Annetts, 41, of Paices Hill, Aldermaston, and Simon Bampton, 46, of Russell Street, Reading, were arrested on June 2 and 3 respectively.

Mr Annetts was subsequently charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of an imitation firearm and Mr Bampton was charged with one count of robbery.

The charges are in connection with an incident at just before 3.30pm on Monday, when a man entered the Betfred in Coronation Square, Southcote.

The man raised what was believed to be a firearm and aimed at the cashier, demanding money from the till.

The offender then kicked down a door to gain access to the till and stole approximately £200 in cash.

The victim, a 58-year-old woman, was not injured.

Mr Annetts and Mr Bampton are both due to appear before Reading Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
