Man charged in connection with attempted robbery in Newbury




Would-be robber charged with possessing imitation firearm

A Newbury man is to appear in court for a failed armed robbery in Newbury.

Michael Williams, of Hutton Close, was charged on Sunday with one count of possession of an imitation firearm and one count of attempted robbery.

The 39-year-old is due to appear at Reading Magistrates Court today (Monday).

The charge follows police being called to Ladbrokes in London Road at 5pm on Thursday evening.
