Man charged over Kingsclere fatal




Overton man charged with failing to stop and failing to report the incident following fatal collision in January

A MAN who was arrested following a fatal collision in Kingsclere in January has now been charged.

Christopher Matthews, aged 28, of Foxdown, Overton, has been charged with failing to stop and failing to report the incident, following a collision which killed a Kingsclere man in January.

On 8.20am on Friday, January 28, police officers were called to the B3051 Winchester Road after a collision involving the VW Passat Mr Matthews was driving and a Peugeot 206.

The Peugeot driver, Gary Rigby, aged 30, of Winchester Road, Kingsclere, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His front-seat passenger, a 28-year-old woman from Kingsclere, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life threatening injuries, but was later discharged.

Mr Matthews has been bailed to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 21.
