Newbury man Antony Hansen charged with racist behaviour in town’s Canal Bar at Old Waggon and Horses




A MAN has been accused of racist aggression in a town centre pub.

Reading magistrates held a preliminary hearing into the case against Antony Hansen on Wednesday, September 27.

The 33-year-old, of Parsons Close, Newbury, is charged with using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The offence, said to have occurred in the Old Waggon and Horses’ Canal Bar in Market Place, on Saturday, March 11 was said to have racially motivated.

Magistrates adjourned the case until a later date, when Mr Hansen will be expected to appear and to enter a plea to the charge.
