Scott Edmunds from Theale charged with rape
A MAN has been sent to the crown court charged with rape and other sexual offences.
Scott Edmunds appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 5.
The 31-year-old, of Theale High Street, is charged with two counts of raping a woman.
Next, he is accused of three separate counts of penetrative sexual assault on a woman when she did not consent and when he did not reasonably believe she was consenting.
All the offences were said to have happened in Theale on the same, specified date.
The rape charges are indictable only, meaning they can only be dealt with at a crown court, rather than a magistrates’ court.
District judge Samuel Goozee therefore sent the case to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
Mr Edmunds was meanwhile released on conditional bail.
