A MAN stands accused of headbutting, strangling and raping a woman.
Joseph Hubbard appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 10.
The 21-year-old, of Auclum Lane, Burghfield Common, faces four charges.
Specifically, Mr Hubbard is accused of assaulting a woman, thereby causing her actual bodily harm, by headbutting her.
Next, he is charged with assault by strangling the woman while raping her.
Thirdly, Mr Hubbard is accused of rape.
Finally, he is charged with committing an offence of causing actual bodily harm with the intention of committing a sexual offence before raping the complainant.
All the above offences are said to have happened on a specific date some years ago.
Mr Hubbard, who was legally represented at the hearing by Joanna Benn, was told the case was being sent to be dealt with by a judge and, in the event of a trial, by a jury, sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
Mr Hubbard was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
