Reading Magistrates’ Court: Newbury man denies committing offences of violence




A MAN is to go on trial for a catalogue of offences, including violence.

Jacob Oakley appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 21.

The 21-year-old, of St John’s Road, Newbury, is accused of assaulting Mark Steer by beating him.

He is further accused of assaulting Kristopher Bourton by beating him and assaulting Steven Kelly by beating him..

Mr Oakley is also charged with driving an E Scooter without a valid licence and driving it without insurance.

Next, he is charged with causing criminal damage to bottles belonging to Sainsbury’s.

Finally, Mr Oakley is accused of causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress at Loddon Valley Police Station on Saturday, August 19.

All the other offences were said to have happened in Hectors Way, Newbury, on August 19.

Mr Oakley, who was legally represented by Tom Brymer, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to all charges.

District judge Samuel Goozee told Mr Oakley the case could proceed no further that day and it would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.

He was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
