Ashleigh Pegg from Thatcham denies assaulting and abusing multiple Newbury police officers
A MAN has been sent to the crown court for trial following an incident in Newbury.
Ashleigh Pegg appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 13.
The 33-year-old, of Beancroft Road, Thatcham, faces five charges – all of which he denies.
Specifically, Mr Pegg is accused of causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.
Next, he is charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards PC Jacques Mitchell.
Then, he is accused of assaulting PC David Folder and also of assaulting PC Jacques Mitchell by beating them.
Finally, Mr Pegg is accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour with intent to cause multiple police officers harassment, alarm or distress.
All the above offences were said to have happened in Newbury on October 14 last year.
Mr Pegg, who was legally represented by Mason Waker, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to all charges.
He was told the case would be sent to Reading Crown Court to be dealt with by a judge and jury on a date to be fixed.
Mr Pegg was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
